Fall INTO THE STREETS

Saturday, October 10, 2009

After the successful return of the Spring Into the Streets program in spring 2009, students will have another opportunity to return to the streets on Saturday, October 10, 2009. The Fall Into the Streets program will also be returning to Western's campus and the Kalamazoo community.

Fall into the Streets, much like our annual Spring into the Streets, is a concerted effort to help first year students to become more civically engaged through service in the Kalamazoo community. Unlike the open format of the Spring into the Streets program, Fall into the Streets will be a coordinated effort through the Student Activities & Leadership Programs office (SALP) and First-Year Experience seminar classes. All participating students will be from FYS sections. Each participating class will be assigned an agency, and on the day of the event, students will serve at that site. Additionally, at the conclusion of their service, each FYS section will participate in a reflection activity to help them process the event.
